What I Learned in One Year of Entrepreneurship

I can’t believe it’s been a little over a year since I stepped out on faith & launched my interior design studio.

What a year it’s been! I could probably talk for hours about all the lessons I’ve learned during this first year, but I made a short video sharing just a few. Take a few minutes to check it out!

You’ll probably notice that the ending of the video is kind of cut short. Well, that’s an unintentional reflection of another lesson I learned this year: DONE is better than perfect. I could have spent another 4 hours editing this video footage and trying to add more but if I did, you would most likely never see it! One of my biggest challenges this year has been pushing through the urge to “perfect.” Perfectionism can be one of the biggest detriments to productivity.

What I cut out of the video:

  • A story about a contractor who bailed on me during my bathroom renovation project this year

  • The CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software that has been the cornerstone of my business processes

  • That one time I had to quit a client/project because I felt bullied

  • The incredible assistance I’ve received from talented folks here in Raleigh
  • The costly $$ mistakes that I learned valuable lessons from

Would y’all like to see more design business related videos from me?

I can’t thank y’all enough for all of the support that I’ve received over this last year. If it wasn’t for this blog, I would not have had the confidence to bet on myself. I don’t ever take it for granted! I can’t wait to share the awesome projects I have in store for year two.
